MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called to investigate an officer-involved shooting.

The shooting happened Friday afternoon on Whitten Road at Interstate 40 in Memphis.

Memphis police say they attempted to pull over a Honda in the area when they discovered the suspect accused in the fatal shooting of a woman Friday in Horn Lake that occurred at the Amazon distribution center.

TBI officials say during the traffic stop, officers ordered the suspect, Corey D. Brewer to exit the vehicle.

Instead, TBI says Brewer fired at the officers.

“According to preliminary information from the scene, the individual inside of the vehicle fired a weapon. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect,” said TBI spokeswoman Keli McAlister.

Brewer was killed. No officers were injured.

TBI says Brewer was alone in his vehicle.
