The Songwriting Challenge seeks to cultivate the next generation of musical theater songwriters from among the country’s high school students through mentorships with professional musical theater artists.
The 833 pride was on full display at Lanier High School Thursday morning. Members of the Lanier High School National Alumni Association, gathered at 833 Maple Street, in the auditorium, to present a $13,000 check, funds gathered through donations.

Jackson Public Schools’ top summer readers read more than 300 books during the summer months. While all JPS scholars are required to read at least three books as part of the District’s summer reading program, four exceptional scholars far exceeded the minimum standard and earned the title of Top Reader for their grade level.
